Should I use lead tape on my racquet?

I own a Head Youtek IG Speed 18×20, and it is fairly low powered. I also have some problems with off-center hits. I’ve heard that putting lead tape at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions can help with plow through and off-center hits. Can anybody confirn this and tell me how much to use and where?

  • The best way I know of to deal with off-center hits is to watch the ball more carefully. Putting weight into the head of the racket will make it more powerful, but less maneuverable; you can’t have everything in a racket, unfortunately. OTOH, if your racket is already a bit head-light, your idea might work out very well.

You must experiment and find out what works [and how much weight works] for YOU. Be careful & try not to injure your wrists, forearms, etc, because that could keep you out of action for quite some time.

    Best of luck 🙂

  • It will not help with off-center hits to put lead tape on. It will definitely make your racket head heavier depending on where you put the tape some people put the lead tape on for more power because then you can loosen up your arm and just let the racket’s weight do the rest of the work. If your racket is low powered and you can handle the extra weight then I would definitely recommend using lead tape. Just not too much 🙂

  • It is fine if you feel cofortable wiht it and it feels that it wont fall off.

  • It won’t help… get a new racket
