What you wear for swimming is your choice. Some guys like board shorts or Speedos. Guys wear most anything from underwear to all their clothes. A lot depends on the rules for the pool. Some guys will wear gym shorts and underwear. Perhaps, you could go to a pool and observe what guys your age are wearing.
Swimming in your underwear or clothes is a spontaneous event. Usually at someone’s pool. When I was doing laps/swimming at a nearby university pool, most guys wore Speedos or some kind of shorts, some with liners and some with underwear.
I really think swimwear is what is comfortable for you. Me? Speedos.

Certain they quilt up as so much and might have the identical appearance, but swim trunks have a web like material on the inside that some swimming pools require. Also, bikinis are most likely for tanning, so the one purpose apart from looking just right is to disclose as much skin as possible to the solar. One more factor is swimsuits may also be worn in public, but undies is confidential. Boxers have a bit of opening in them too, and a few bras are kind of see via.
