I personally believe it was the egg. Because I believe that a fox could have stumbled upon it and mistaken it as one of its own. Or a hawk could have swooped down and cared for it.

It has to have been a chicken, because of evolution. What the first chicken would’ve hatched from wouldn’t have been an actual chicken egg. Would’ve been an egg from its predecessor, and it evolved.

It is definitely the egg because the animal that had the egg would be an almost chicken and then the egg would have a mutation that made it the chicken as we know today. The chicken that had the egg would not be an actual chicken
Egg, simple reason 2 animals could of mated and layed the egg that mutated into a chicken, just like Lion and tigers mate and make Ligers.

Chicken or the egg is pointless, it was the egg – birds (of which chickens are one type, duh) are a lot more recent than the egg is!
