Things to do with a spare bedroom?

So after moving into our new place back in January we haven’t really done anything with our spare bedroom apart from putting a desk in there to do some work on.. I want a cool idea to do with it, was thinking maybe a games table like air hockey and a spare bed for guests.. The room isn’t massively big it’s just a double room, so would need to keep it basic not too many things cramming it up.

  • We have kept one of our spare rooms for guests and the other is used as an office / library.

We put some big, solid oak shelving units round two walls and have all of our books and DVDs in there. In the opposite corner we have our desk and office equipment. It is a really useful room actually but then we do have a ridiculous amount of books and DVDs. If we didn’t have this set up, I don;t know where else we could put them..

A games table sounds like it would be a good idea, but you would probably lose interest soon enough. A library / Office will be useful forever.

  • A library would be my choice, with a pull out bed or nicer futon. If it’s big enough you could use a shelf as a room divider to give some privacy or space. You can also use the closet for shelving or desk. Colors can help make a room larger along with window treatments. It sounds like furn! You can even do a theme room with zebra fabric, leopard covers there’s so much to find with that kind of theme. Paint a mask on the wall, or get rustic wooden things at a flea market. Fake furs could be used as throw covers, even a sheep-skin rug on the floor.

  • Some guests never leave so I would lean more towards office library or office gym. If you insist on a spare bedroom get one of those murphy bed systems that double up as a library.

Knock the wall down and make it a joint space with another room?

  • A game room with foosball, air hokey, darts board and a bunch of board games.

A study with book cases lining the walls and your desk.

    A spare bedroom.

A chill room with a bunch of lazy couches, a fridge with beer and snacks, sme board games, magazines and books.

Hobby room, stacked with whatever you need for your creative outlets.

TV room with a projector, lazy couches and a fridge

  • I have kept the spare bedroom as the gaming room full of dvds, games, snooker/pool, darts and an xbox

  • so dress it as a bedroom first, because the air hockey table will eat up all the space.

  • Use it as a computer suite. Keep all that’s to do with your machine in that room.
