Hey there! can someone explain what Marx’s Dialectic Materialism means in simple terms! I’ve been reading various notes about this!! It’s not very clear! I got exams soon! Please help! Thank you 🙂

1) Transformation of quality to quantity and vice versa. In the course of its development, everything develops quantitatively to an extent and then has to undergo qualitative change in order to develop further. For example, pure water can get hotter than 1 degrees only if undergoes a qualitative development into steam. Similarly, a capitalist society cannot develop after a period if it does not transit into socialism through a revolution.
2) Unity of opposites. Opposites remain united within everything until they split for altering an object. For example, the elements of revolution and degeneration are united within a communist party. They split from time to time, and in case the element of degeneration dominates, the party dissolves. Otherwise it makes revolution.
3) Negation of negation. This means that in the course of its development, the new properties of a system negate its old properties, and are in turn negated by further development of the system. However, negation of negation does not imply coming back to the exact earlier system. For example, feudalism is negated by capitalism, and capitalism is negated by socialism.
