Vancouver Canucks…. Why do YOU hate them?

Sharks fan – I have STRONGLY disliked the Canucks since 27 or so. Regular season games between the teams always got heated, and I felt the Nucks took cheap shots – then complained after losing. It was all too fitting that Vancouver signed Raffi Torres, my all-time most despised player, and then eliminated the Sharks in 2011 which was probably their best shot at winning the cup. Luongo is the only player I respect on Van.

Still trying to cope mentally with the thought of Torres playing for the Sharks.

As a Wings fan, I’ve been the object of fun hatred. When I lived in the southern U.S., it was fans of the Blues, then the Stars and Preds. Now I’m in ND and everyone here either loves the Hawks (Toews is from ND) or the Wild. “I hate the Red Wings” is usually their statement, but nothing vicious. I can understand. I was living in Detroit through the dark years, even after Yzerman was drafted the Wings couldn’t make the playoffs. So, to have success makes me feel good about being hated the way I used to hate Montreal.

I don’t think anyone really hates the Canucks. Most folks here hate the Ducks and Avalanche more than they hate Detroit or Vancouver.

I don’t hate them. They get more attention than they deserve though, and are known for whining and diving. It’s really not rocket science, if players dive and have a history of poor sportsmanship, they won’t be liked by a lot of people. It’s the same reason so many dislike Crosby.

The riots were simply the cherry on top. Plus Canucks fans tend to get butthurt more than normal, which makes you all easy trollbait.

people cant stand certain players like alexandre burrows, ryan kesler, maxim lapierre etc for there antics,diving, embellishing etc. but they’ve all definately toned it down, not to mention theyre all really good hockey players

the riots certainly didn’t help….. but all the true canucks fans the next day cleaned up so that left a good impression.

Plus Vancouver is one of the nicest cities in the world, plus we hosted the olympics and have hot women so its alot to do with envy/jealousy…

As a Boston fan, my list could go on.

I respect the talents of the Sedins, Kesler, Bieksa, Edler…

but with guys like Luongo (opening his mouth about Thomas and then choking), Burrows (opening his mouth to bite Bergeron!) and Lapierre (opening his mouth to talk smack and not back it) there are just too many attitudes/unlikeable personalities for one team.

Lots of teams care about their fans, and do a lot for charity. I think it’s just their style of play that people don’t like. They used to dive a lot in game, and complain about calls all the time. Built themselves a reputation as whiners and divers.

The Canucks are not the most hated team in the league, people actually pay attention and follow teams they thoroughly hate, nobody really pays attention to the Canucks, everyone is kind of apathetic towards them, not hate, apathy, big difference.

I personally dislike them because as a Vancouverite, I think their fans don’t exactly have a really good attitude toward losses and stuff, and that’s misrepresenting Vancouverites in general to some outsiders.

They have a bad reputation for choking and complaining and diving. Add to the fact that Vancouverites took to the streets and rioted when they lost the cup, it didn’t help their image. People view Canucks fans as cocky and arrogant despite having lack of success.
