Will a “water” variable flow rate work?
Why variable flow meter instead of digital flow meter… Budget haha 🙂

It depends on how accurate you need to measure the flow and how steady the flowing conditions are in terms of pressure, temperature and flow rate.
If you can calibrate the meter for the exact flowing conditions you have and can fix those conditions then they will work fairly well.
I don’t know how many of these meters you have actually used but many times they tend to “bounce” up and down making it very difficult to read.
