Was ‘West Side Story’ a bad influence on teens of that era?

Believe it or not “West Side Story” got me into collecting knives, it was the very first time I ever saw a stiletto switchblade, I then knew I had to have one, now I has countless stiletto switchblades and multiply other types of knives, it’s like a drug when you first start collecting them.
