What are the pros and cons of the current Yankee Stadium and the previous ballpark?

Whether it is from the fans prospective or the players, I just would like to know any differences, whther one is better than the other in terms of facts.

  • One immense “con” for the old yard is that it is completely gone, resulting in a very poor entertainment experience for today’s game-going Yankee fan.

  • The only pro I can think of is that it’s a new stadium. I saw the White Sox play at the old Yankee Stadium three years in a row including the second the last series in the old stadium. It was a nice setup for a baseball stadium and you had a good vantage point anywhere in the stadium. The only area I could tell that you had a blocked off view is down the lines from which you were sitting, so if you were down the first base line you couldn’t see the RF corner and if you were down the third base line you couldn’t see the LF corner.

I’ve only been to one series in the new stadium since I moved back to Chicago in 28, it seemed like they tried to copy much of the old stadium and it was just too big and bulky to me and overdone. It’s a nice place to watch a game but I wasn’t really impressed with the stadium outside of it being state of the art.

I’ll probably not make it back to NY for some time so that is my only view of the new stadium. I also went to a game in Citi Field while I was there last year and liked that stadium better than Yankee Stadium, heck I like US Cellular better than Yankee Stadium too.

  • I’m from Baltimore and went up to New York and thought the stadium was terrible. I sat in the right field bleachers and couldn’t see center field because of that big wall. I guess it’s there for standing seating but it’s like obstructing center field from view on both the right and left field bleachers. How dumb is that?

  • Pros:

I’m not a Steinwienie fan so I don’t have to watch games there.

    It’s not in my town.

    Cons:

    It exists.

Stupid NY fans overpay for tickets to attend games there.
