  • A golden watch that is water proof! For surfing

  • Like others said, a picture of him surfing, but, the

picture is taken in the water. I’ve surfed for a long time

and I’ve seen A LOT of pictures taken from the shore.

It’s o.k., but a picture taken from the surf at the actual

surfer is very cool. It’s like being there in the water, on the

wave, experiencing what the surfer is doing, feeling at

the moment. As a surfer it’s hard to explain to a non surfer

what it is. It’s a spiritual experience being one with the wave,

the ocean, nature. A very cool picture blown up in a nice frame so he can hang it up. I would love something like that.

I know he would also. It’s a surfer’s thing, we just know.

  • Maybe a Surfrider membership, preferably one that comes with a magazine subscription.

Art is a good choice. If you live in Cali there is the Californian Classics series of photos. You could get the pic of his favorite break and have it framed.

Maybe a good surf movie. Something like Sipping Jetstreams, Shelter or Thicker than Water.

  • What kind of spending limit are we talking here? How about a surf trip to Costa Rica. Plane tickets and lodging down there are relatively inexpensive and the fall is the best time to go down there to find waves.

For something a little more practical, how about a large painting or print that depicts something surf related. I would love to get something like that to hang on my wall.

  • A watch (waterproof maybe with a tide thingy)

    Surfer mag subscription

Pipe Dreams (really good Kelly autobiography)

    wax

    nice sunglasses

    a board bag

  • some string with a beadaround his rist and and a block of wax or if u wanna spend allot get him a board BUT DONT FORGET THE STRING….its th most important think for a cool surfer i dont no any surfer that dosent have one

get something carved into the board

  • Most golfers have all the stuff they need, so buying them clubs or balls is a waste, and you’ll probably not get him the type he uses anyway. In my opinion you should arrange for him to play a round at a nice course. Either someplace he’s talked about and never played, or his favorite course. Afterwards you can surprise him by bringing him a change of clothes and his toiletries so he can freshen up and have dinner with you in the clubhouse.

  • Get him a subscription to The Surfer’s Journal.

  • I would stay away from jewelry. I agree with the above answer, a print, picture, or painting of something surf related would be awesome. magicseaweed.com has some cool stuff but they are fairly expensive. It could give you an idea though.

  • A couple of ideas for you. Trips are always nice but a little pricey sometimes. When I was 45 my wife gave me a nice model Woodie car for my desk and l loved it – still have it on my desk at work. She also gave me a surfboard mouse for my computer.

  • How about a tide watch? Its a regular (usually nice) watch that has that extra feature. I know I would love to have one. You can get them from surf shops.
