i bought a guitar without any knowledge or experience i do plan on taking lessons but is there anything i can do in my personal time that will help me?

Learn to hold it.. Learn how to hold a pick…learn some basic chords like G D C … Learn how to tune it (E A D G B E) Learn where the notes on the neck are… For example, You have E when you put your finger on the first fret of the E string it is then a F then finger on second fret F# finger on third G finger on 4th G# and so on.. Now after E and B there is no sharp… So anytime you come to an E next is F….and B to C……Hope this helps and you have lots of fun…don’t let it discourage you either just take your time learning it because there is a lot
