I’m a guy and I keep my hair a little long. My hair has always been straight/somewhat wavy, but after going to get my haircut (at a greatclips =/) the end of my sides seem to puff out. They don’t curl, just seem to stick out. Like my hair is kinda straight than theres a wave and poof it sticks out. I’ve let my hair grow back after a month and it’s still like this. What happened?

I’m no hairstylist, but this is what I think.
If it was a person who doesn’t normally work with your hair type, she may have cut it more choppy, or put in layers. Feathering was popular in the 70s and it does look like what you are describing. I am pretty sure it is just a way to brush not cut.
Solutions:
Temporary-if you have a girlfriend chances are she has a hair straightener. Make a joke out of it and ask her to straighten your hair. It could work!
Permanent- go to a hairstylist and explain your problem. (The best ones are at day spas) they could do the best they can to fix it, or they could help you find a new style altogether.
