  • I think the industrialized nations should pay for the pollution and environmental damages created to the developing nations. The industrialized nations are the reason why we have global warming, climate change and extinctions of wild life. In such scenario, the developing nations should not be allowed to cause more damage to mother nature. The industrialized nations can help developing nations with their pollution free technology for their development.
  • No, because we didn’t know better back then and trade with industrialized countries gives them the technology to modernize.

  • While it’s ‘not fair’ because developed nations had that added advantage back then, it is only pragmatic. The world obviously tolerate the current levels of pollution so they definitely should not be allowed to pollute. What can be done though is to maybe make developed nations help them out a little in terms of incentives and policies. However that opens up a whole new can of worms so…

  • Up to a point, yes, unless the industrialized ones are willing to give them the advanced equipment they need to skip that stage. Once the economy reaches the size of China’s or India’s, it is time to put on the brakes, though.

  • Perhaps the question should be how much developed nations should pay to address the damage they inadvertently did while developing which the payment be financial or in efforts to counter the effects of the damage.
