What does the bible say?

What are some scriptures in the bible that directs us on how to kill sexual urges? Not the consequences of the sin BUT HOW to stop it… I already know the consequences…

  • Well honestly, YOU can’t “kill” sexual urges. We are humans.

    What you can do is not depend on yourself to stop, because you can’t do it alone.

    The word of God tell us that we have a helper, that helper is the Holy Spirit who will help us and guide us. If you are struggling with sexual desires simply surrender to God, confess it, he knows you are going through that just tell him yourself I’m sure you’ll find relief and freedom in doing so. Ask him for help, the word tell us to ask, to seek to knock. Holy Spirit is a cheerful worker. remember that He is the potter and we Are the clay.

    So don’t depend on yourself, depend on Him who is greater. Seek Him in prayer in fasting and in the word, surrender this area of your life to Jesus

    Our weaknesses serve as a reminder of how much we are dependent of an almighty God.

  • Those urges build up to irresistable along with the hormones that create them. The remedy is clearly given in scripture: Marriage. Her body belongs to him and his to her, to be together as often and as many different ways as imagination presents, as long as it is harmless, agreeable and out of love for one another. Being regularly together will prevent the urges you ask about and will also prevent a desire to stray away from your partner.

  • This is the sequence of the creation of error (sin). Every error begins with a thought (lust); if you give it time INSIDE YOUR HEAD, it BECOMES a sin. CUT IT OFF soon, even before it becomes lodged in your HEART, because the heart THINKS, desires, makes your error TRUE.

  • If you need the bible to tell you not to masturbate, just stop, there aren’t any. There are no consequences! Give up the guilt and be a real person!

  • James chapter 4 vs. 7 Rebuke the devil and he will flee. sexual desires can be normal but acting on them or dwelling on them can get us into trouble. God gave us sex, it is a gift when used correctly in marriage. Lustful desires are temptations of the devil, you need to take charge and rebuke him.

    However, most people with troubling sexual urges had childhood experiences that contribute to them. Some may even suffer sexual addiction. I was going to give you a link to a web site, but the site is gone…

    The point the person was making who made that web site, is that he learned a lot of lies – both about himself and about others – while he was growing up – due to horrible experiences in childhood – and that it was taking him just as long as an adult to unlearn those lies as it did to learn them. He and I were both abused by the same family of child pornographers. I lost touch with him a few years ago.

    To unlearn them, he had to learn all over again, how to love people, just as people, rather than as abusers and sex objects. I don’t know if he ever learned to love himself.

    He and I both had difficulties with some psychologists who insisted that they wanted to help us stay the same, when we wanted to change. They were working at cross-purposes with our goals. Once I found one that respected what I wanted to do with my life, I did find him very helpful in dealing with my childhood. If you ever feel like someone else is using your mind or body to feel these urges or to commit sexual acts, please get a psychological diagnosis!

    However, what I really found helpful was Bible study in which I came to know God and Christ as personal friends, and learning how to live as if I were created in God’s image. I recommend this: http://www.jw.org/en/free-bible-study/

    One thing I learned is refusing to dwell on sexual thoughts when they occur to me. These urges are just as natural, but just as mistaken, as Peter was:

    ’21From then on Jesusj began to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, and that he would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day he would be raised from the dead.

    22But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand himk for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!”

    23Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”’ – Mark 8 (NLT)

    These urges are traps to some of us, and we need to rebuke them just as sincerely as Jesus rebuked Peter’s mistaken attempt to comfort him. We can do think these rebukes in our heads, or shout them aloud, depending upon how we feel about it, and how much privacy we have.

    Pray for the power and authority to rebuke your unwanted urges, because they probably have power and authority over you. This works best if you actually believe you can do this with the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s time to exercise your faith in the power of prayer.

    Then think about something that fascinates you, and gives glory to God, before the urge comes back.

  • Well, I’m not being factitious, but Jesus says to cut off your arm or poke out your eye if you are tempt to sin. Best to do that now than an eternity in Hell, it says. How far do you want to take this?

  • In my personal experience it is incredibly hard. I have prayed and prayed to ask God to help me conquer it but it hadn’t helped enough. What did it for me was having someone so important walk into my life because of God that not only did I want to do it for myself but for her too.
