  • The electron is a fundamental subatomic particle that carries an electric charge. It is a spin-½ lepton that participates in electromagnetic interactions, and its mass is less than one thousandth of that of the smallest atom. Its electric charge is defined by convention to be negative, with a value of −1 in atomic units. Together with atomic nuclei, electrons make up atoms; their interaction with adjacent nuclei is the main cause of chemical bonding.

  • an electron is a negetively charged particle which revolves round the nucleus (the massive part of the atom containing nuetral nuetrons & positively charged protons) of an atom. It has one unit charge [ 1/(6 X 10^8) coulomb) ] and neglegible mass of 1/1877 atomic mass unit units (1 amu is the weight of one proton or one eletron). It is extremely small in size and revolves round the nucleus by the help of centrifugal force which is the reason it is not attracted by the positively charged nucleus. It revolves round the nucleus in shells(orbits) with the number of electrons in each shell being 2n^2 where n is the number of the shell. However, the last shell can only have 8 electrons. If the last shell has 8 electrons the atom is said to be inert or unreactive or stable. However, in case of H & He, the last shell is the 1st shell and has to have 2 electrons in the last shell to be stable. The chemical and conducting properties of the element depends wholely on the electrons and the electronic configuration (the number of electrons in the shells) and largely on the valane shell(the last orbit) and the valency (number of elctrons in the last shell)

  • An electron is a negatively charged particle. They are present in the atoms. They revolve around particular spaces called orbitals. The prediction of the exact position of an electron in an atom is not possible bcoz it will be in a random movement. The atoms in turn combine and form molecules.

  • What is an electron?

An electron is a very small negatively charged particle found within the atom, outside of the nucleus.

  • Within an atom, electrons surround a nucleus composed of protons and neutrons in an electron configuration. The variations in electric field generated by differing numbers of electrons and their configurations in atoms determine the chemical properties of the elements. These fields play a fundamental role in chemical bonds and chemistry.

Electrons in motion produce an electric current and a magnetic field. Some types of electric currents are termed electricity.

The word electron was coined in 1891 by George Johnstone Stoney [1] and is derived from the term electric force introduced by William Gilbert. Its origin is in Greek: ήλεκτρον (elektron), meaning amber. J.J. Thomson is credited with having first measured the charge/mass ratio and is considered to be the discoverer of the electron.

  • Small charge particle. Believe to be the smallest thing in the world.

By the way tell you some jokes:

-Doctor! I have a serious problem, I can never remember what i just said.

-When did you first notice this problem?

    -What problem?

    One more joke:

A guy calls his vet and says “What should I do with my cat?Vet says “What do you mean? Guy says “I had a leak in my lawnmowers gas tank and the cat drank the gas. Then the cat began to run around and around the yard, climbed a tree. then fell out of the tree stiff. Vet says “Is the cat dead? Guy replies “nope he ran out of gas.

Last of all just want to tell you that whatever you do, just don’t give up. Also you must love and care for the people around you. In that way they will also show you the love that you show to them. Just be yourself and happy everyday. Wish you all the best and good luck!!

  • An electron isn’t a particle, it really isn’t and don’t believe anyone who tells you it is. It’s a quantum “entity” that behaves like a particle if you set up an experiment to look for it as a particle. Its perfectly possible to set up an experiment to show that an electron is a wave. J.J Thompson won a Nobel prize for demonstrating that electrons are particles (measuring their charge and mass etc.) and then (dig this) his son George won a Nobel prize for showing electrons were waves !!. Both prizes were equally well deserved.

  • An electron is a negetivly charged particle which lies around the nucleus in energy levels. An electron is so small .

no of electrons = atomic number =no of protons
