  • because really it a vicouis art. each move is to maim or kill. its pure street defence. it teaches you to do anthing no matter how violent or immoral to survive.

  • Krav Maga is used by the Israeli special forces. It’s not really a martial art. It’s a fighting style. But, it doesn’t have any moral code attached to it. People fighting in the desert on a daily basis use it. Kind of like the marines it’s not used by huge a huge military. It’s more concentrated. It’s really brutal and efficient. People that are 120 lbs can use it against someone twice their size. There are no competitions. It’s used for a guy has a gun. Then he has no gun and a broken arm. Lying on his back on the ground. And you’re still alive and unhurt.

  • Krav Maga is a combat philosophy for the battlefield. The civilian version is watered down to resemble cardio kickboxing on steroids.

Find yourself a good martial arts school, learn to use modern weapons, develop some street awareness, and you’ll be ok.

  • I would not go so far to say that it is superior to other things. It was created by an Israeli soldier who had a background in TMAs for the purpose training other soldiers and Mossad agents a way to defend themselves without all the fluff that TMA also includes. It and its focus on dealing with adversaries with weapons is what makes it stand out or unique but not superior. TKD was created for much the same reasons and also takes its origin from other TMA but that does not make it superior to those arts.

The big thing about it today is that it has become one of the main arts that is being offered by various chains of schools with watered down standards for the most part. It can be an effective art but if the training is not on a high enough level like what you have in many of the schools that offer it then that effectiveness is blunted considerably is what I have found. A friend of mine who was a former kickboxing champion and Gold Glove champion in boxing who I trained has one of the better schools for training fighters has this as their main art that they offer. While his students can fight competitively well enough they lack the experience and level of training to really rely on their skills in this art for a street situation and what it teaches without fumbling and stumbling through things. That’s a recipe for disaster especially where weapons are concerned and hardly makes it superior to other TMAs for that purpose.

  • “The blade is only as sharp as the warrior it bonds with. Without the bond… It is nothing but metal and cloth.” This is not the first time I have said this. Nothing about any style or art is special… But the one who practices the art is what renders the art unique.

  • It’s effective, easy to train, and protects you from many situations. But like any other arts, you don’t learn all of it in Dojos or Schools, because they don’t want you that good just to kill someone. It’s watered down, but in the Army they teach you the real thing.
