Nothing “reasonable” about jet skis any more. . . If someone gave you one for free – at today’s cost of fuel – your fuel for fun on the water will cost you about $250 (or more) a day .
If my memory serves me correctly, we’ve heard from 6 people over the past 6 weeks that have indeed been ‘given’ jet-skis. . . Most have no earthly (or nautical) idea these little suckers burn gas at an average cruise speed rate of 10 gallons per hour. At $4. plus a gallon or $40. an hour, 4 hours of fun cost about $2..
If you put that $2 a week in savings, at today’s rate you would have almost $5,0 in 20 years. Twice that if you put it in a 401k or IRA.
Hummm. . . What would I rather do? Have 4 hours of fun on the water in a PWC every week – or have a $million dollars to retire on in 20 years? (Which, btw, would buy you a lifetime annuity income of about $65,0 a year for the rest of your life.)
