  • DX is only on Vista and . And >>>>Vista

    Windows

also if you wanna use more than GB of RAM make sure you get a -bit OS

  • To be honest, it’s really up to you.

Windows is generally regarded as the best for gaming, and it’s true that there are a larger selection of games that will run on Windows than any other platform. A lot of games won’t release expansion packs etc. on Mac. However, Mac isn’t as bad as the PC fanboys would have you believe. (That said, don’t trust Mac fanboys either.)

If you’re interested in gaming, sorry, but Linux simply isn’t for you. It’s a great operating system, but developers aren’t interested in making games for it.

Mac does have a very good—and growing—selection of games available, but it’s not quite as high as Windows is just yet.

As for Windows XP vs. Win, they both have nearly identical selections of most modern games. You may find that some REALLY old games won’t work in Win, but all more recent (say, onwards, as a complete estimate) ones should work fine in both XP and . However, I would say is the better bet, because it’s newer, and it has a lot of non-gaming features that make it better overall than XP. Security is one of the most important ones, in my opinion, as Windows is a lot more secure than Windows XP.

Windows also has DirectX , whereas XP only supports up to . DirectX (or DX for short) is something to do with how the graphics are rendered in games. I don’t know exactly what it does, but I do know that more recent games (from when Vista was released in ) onward will probably support DX or , meaning you will get better graphics in Windows .

But again, it’s really up to you. If you’ve been on XP for a long time, and don’t adapt well to new interfaces, it may take a little while for you to get used to using Windows . If you found it very hard to adjust to the ribbon interface in Office (which I, for one, LOVED, but I can understand that a lot of people didn’t like the change), then it may take you a while to get used to it. However, I do think that it’s worth the effort.

    SHORT ANSWER: Windows

  • I just got a Windows laptop from Dell, and let me tell you, that is the BEST. I really like that the one I got (Dell inspiron ) is HD. This is good for gaming. Another good thing is that the Windows Laptops, have more space then any of those you had listed. I have a Windows , and a Mac. They are both excellent computers- but Windows is great. I just got the mac, and it’s good too – but you wouldn’t want the Mac Bar at the bottom to be crowded with games. – But Mac and Windows . Now with Windows ~ It has a bar just like the Mac – but it’s on the top!! You can move it to the bottom later. But I would say the Mac or is your best bet. It’s personal experience 🙂

  • Windows hands down.

Linux and Mac have compatability issues with any software, not to mention Macs have the priciest outdated hardware on the planet.

Windows XP is good but getting slowly outdated too. Direct X only works on windows , therefore that fact alone makes it the best for gaming.

Additionally, you should get windows bit so that you can have more than the usual gb of ram to run your games.

  • There’s no question about it – modern operating systems, such as Windows and the latest Windows XP, provide the user with a much more stable work environment than the fully outdated software architecture of Windows or ME. Among PC gamers, performance differences between these operating systems are still a point of intense discussion. Which one is faster? In addition, there are still many games coming out on the market that don’t run properly on Windows XP. A good example of this is the U-Boot game “Silent Hunter II,” which managed to crash the entire PC within a few minutes. At the time, the developer simply shrugged its shoulder at its own Internet support forums and merely pointed out the fact that ultimately, Windows XP is not an OS for games. But apart from games (and a few special applications as well), which other applications really need the fastest and newest hardware? Certainly not Word, Excel & Co.

Another negative aspect of Windows XP and Windows is the annoying Hz problem (http://xp-refresh.net/ ). If a game runs in full-screen mode, then the monitor can only have a refresh rate of Hz. So if you’ve got a good quality monitor on the desk, then this will hardly be satisfying for you. In order to spare gamers’ eyes from further torture, a few hard-working programmers came to the rescue, publishing freeware tools to remedy the problem, because technically this is certainly not impossible to solve. For a long time, Microsoft saw no reason to do anything about this problem. It was only with the introduction of Service Pack for Windows XP that Microsoft came up with a solution for Direct D as well as OpenGL.

Even the graphics card manufacturers are doing very little or nothing to fix the problem, although it would be easy enough for them to come up with a solution. But this is not completely true for all manufacturers – ever since NVIDIA’s newest Detonator XP “Release ” Beta drivers, the company has become the first to offer a possible solution. And it’s about time. By contrast, with ATI and other manufacturers, solutions are not to be found. ATI responds to these inquiries simply by referring the user to the freeware tools mentioned above. On the one hand, one would like to offer WHQL-certified drivers only, in order to satisfy OEM clients. However, one then refers the customer to freeware tools that are straight from the domestic “hacker foundries” and have not been thoroughly tried and tested. This last statement is not meant to sound negative, and the contributions of these software developers are certainly nothing to sneeze at – it’s thanks to them that games could be played properly at all on Windows XP and . Still, these programmers only have access to very limited testing resources compared to graphics card manufacturers with huge R&D departments. And in any case, it’s only the customer’s right to expect graphics card manufacturers to provide such tools! At least NVIDIA shows that this topic finally, after many years, has been pushed to the forefront.

Anyway, back to our comparison. So, what can we do? Which operating system is faster? Should you resort to having both systems on your PC? XP or for work, and Windows /ME for play? When Windows was introduced, its clear advantage in speed over /ME was still noticeable. However, much time has passed since then.

In order to finally answer these questions and rid the world of the preconceptions that run rampant in the Web, we’ve taken some games and made a performance comparison between Windows XP, XP SP, and ME. The test platform was based on a Pentium system with NVIDIA GeForce Ti and ATI Radeon PRO.

  • To keep it short:

Windows is generally superior for gaming. Linux has its beneft in indie games. Mac really doesn’t. If you are a hardcore gamer searching for the best graphics go . If you wish for your games to work, and really enjoy the likes of warcraft, cos, etc…, go xp. It’s just simple, and easy. You go through the motions and everything works.

  • Windows -bit

  • depends on your computer. if you have a new high end computer, it’ll be better to use windows to take advantage of all the bells and whistles of your computer. but if your computer is like years old or older, use windows xp. it’ll run faster..

Linux will never be a gaming platform. you can’t play most of the best games in Mac without emulator, which will greatly compromise the performance.
