What will the Cicada swarm be like?

The only time I ever had any encounter with one of these was a VERY long time ago in Iowa when I was a child. I saw one Cicada shell and it was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen. Then my sister threw it at me. It was literally the worst experience of my entire life. I thought it was just some strange and rare bug that only existed in southern states. It’s only just recently come to my attention that there will be Billions of them swarming the North East in the next couple months.

Will they land on me while I walk outside?

Will they enter my house if they can?

Will they get in my car if they can?

Will there be a chance that I will step on one of them or their shells while walking?

I live in Connecticut.

Please if you can answer any of those questions, please answer honestly. I am literally terrified of these. If there is anything else I need to know, please tell me. I understand they don’t harm humans, but I am seriously afraid of these. I’m not concerned for my safety. I’m concerned for my sanity.

Please don’t judge me.

  • I live in NY and I have seen cicadas plenty of times. I used to think they were overgrown flies before I knew any better.
They usually just stay on tree trunks or dead ones on sidewalks. They really don’t interrupt humans, much less than flies who invade houses.
they have this buzzing noise though, which will probably be the most noticeable thing.
Besides them looking kinda creepy they don’t really do anything.
