What would be the effect of marijuana legalization?

Update:

Would it increase or decrease consumption? Why are alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine legal drugs and marijuana an illegal drug? If people use these legal forms of drugs and say they do not use drugs, are they hypocritical?

  • It would increase initially but in a few years probably drop down like it is in Holland where it lost the glamor associated with being illegal. The rate of usage is in Holland is much lower than in the US probably because it is legal.

It was used to harass blacks and Mexicans. It is still used as a club by the recipients of government money to harass “undesirables”. It was originally installed by a political hack installed by William Randolph Hearst who started the refer madness propaganda because he didn’t want it competing with wood as a source for paper. Now it is supported by cops, judges and people who make money from prisons and all the people that get government money fighting it.

They are both ignorant and hypocritical.

  • Some states have legalized it and thus far there has been little “major” change. I would have to say that if the Fed would leave the issue alone it would essentially dry up black markets (illegal) for cannabis…other than that the world should turn as it always has.

(It would also lend itself to government revenue as opposed to government costs….assuming of course that the government does not take up some kind of new government program to rehabilitate the supposed addicted).

  • . it would increase. . Because marijuana is considered a “gateway drug” . technically yes but if you ask them to specify they will probably clarify and then they will not be hypocritical about it.
