When an acquaintance asks you a personal question on the United?

States and you say…” Oh gosh, I had let that go.”
Or ” I have moved on.”
What does that tell the other person asking???
(Does it tell them…please don’t bring that up again?

  • If a person says they have let it go or have moved on, it basically means it’s not something they want to think or talk about. It usually means the subject matter was hard for them to deal with and it’s better if they don’t talk about it than to try and dredge up the past. It could be to painful for them to try and continue to speak about it.

  • fair, that’s a tough one out of context, so I’ll answer with examples.
How’s the dating going with Sally? — I have moved on. — Depending on the tone, it just may be a fact that the person is no longer dating Sally OR that they don’t want it brought up again.
Are you still on the Adkins diet? — Oh gosh, I had let that go — Again, depending on the tone, it may mean I have moved on to another diet plan or I really don’t want to talk about my diet with you.
