When can i get my driver license in california?

My birthday was last month, I am now 17. Could i take the permit test without taking divers ed classes? And how long do i have to wait to get my license? When is the soonest time possible at this point in time to get my license?

  • If you apply now you’ll need to take Drivers Ed, and Driver Training, and wait 6 months. If you wait until you’re 17 1/2 you no longer need Drivers Ed, and Driver Training, BUT you can not request a road test until you’re 18. Those are your options.

    You need to take your Driver’s Ed if you are under 18 and want to get your license as soon as possible. This is a list of documents you need to apply: http://driving-tests.org/california/#app… You need to pass your vision and written tests and wait 6 months before you schedule the driving part.
