To have your fingers touching when catching a football your hands would have to be giant! The idea of the triangle is correct, but your hands should be slightly spaced, otherwise the catch will never happen.

If not, you can work on catching by bouncing a bouncy ball off a wall, and catching it as fast as you can. This will help with your agility, awareness, and catching.
NOOSE! is what my Crazy old coach makes us yell when we catch a ball… its like a triangle so yes… make that but when the ball comes i usually have to take my hands further appart beause i have small hands…
