Where did the myth of Perseus originate ?

I’m doing a project for science about the constellation Perseus. I’m having a lot of trouble finding information and I really need to finish it soon. I need to know what culture came up with the myth, how the constellation is important to that culture and the time in history the myth was told. I also need to know what time in the night its visible and any other information about the constellation. If you could give me as much information you know as possible that would be wonderful thanks.

  • The myth is Greek, as well as Perseus, but his adventures take place at Ethiopia, I think… 🙂

Perseus was the son of Danae and Zeus. Danae and Perseus were abandoned in the sea by Danae’s father, the king, because Perseus was meant to take his grandfather’s place. They arrive at a Greek island named Delos. The king of Delos fell in live with Danae, but Perseus did not approve of their marriage. To get rid of him, he sent Perseus to find Medusa, a monster that transformed you into a statue as soon as you looked her eyes, and kill her. Athena helped Perseus cut Medusa’s head. There are other myths too aboht him, but this is the main one! 🙂
