  • philosophy of my birth certificate.

  • Taoism (this is how it’s spelled, but it sounds the way you spelled it. I know, dumb, right?), I know is to lead a simple life, and I mean a SIMPLE life. There is a book called the Tao of Pooh (like Winnie the Pooh), and it discusses how Pooh is the best Taoist because he leads a life where there is only necessities. To be a Taoist takes extreme measures.

Confucianism is based on the idea of moral education, and leading a moral life, so that the gov’t can use morals to guide its laws and doesn’t have to use coercive laws to govern its people.

There’s a lot more to it than that, because it is a very complex philosophy/quasi-religion. Just look up the wikipedia article.

I think neither are “laid back” as you put it, because you will have to give up all your “civilized” things, such as computers and extra clothes, and your technology.

confucianism has a lot of rules and moral guidelines to follow which can always be a hinderance. I suggest just following more Nietzsche, or Kirkegaard, who were existentialists. They believed that God is dead, and thus, as humans our choices define who we are, and we must accept responsibility for our actions in order to be mature adults.

  • Taoism or the School of Tao refers to a set of philosophical teachings and religious practices that are rooted in a specific and metaphysical understanding of the Chinese character Tao, here encompassing the whole processes of the Universe, considered as to be constantly changing and stemming from the diversification of a unique principle of energy, or emptiness.

Confucianism Con*fu”cian*ism, noun The political morality taught by Confucius and his disciples, which forms the basis of the Chinese jurisprudence and education. It can hardly be called a religion, as it does not inculcate the worship of any god. –S. W. Williams.

For me, since I am a Christian and believe in God, I would say that I lean toward Daoism, which does make reference to a Higher Power.

  • No religion is strict unless you follow its strictures to a T. Then, of course, you are engaged in a discipline rather than a spiritual pursuit.

If you follow a religion strictly, then you are simply performing a ceremony for the sake of doing so. If you seek spiritual enlightenment, a connection with God or the universe or whatever deity you believe in; then that comes from within and has little to do with stricture. It has to do with core beliefs.

  • Confucianism is basically about how to deal with society.

    Daoism is about acceptance.

Confucianism has more dogma-like implications, I’d guess.
