White people: Have you ever been to Japan?

Yes lived there for 6 yrs. 3 years in Tokyo, 3 yrs in Okinawa. I loved it. The Japanese people are so nice and they always present themselves as happy. Their restaurants are wonderful, even fast food. They take a lot of pride in their jobs, even at McDonalds. There is a place called cocoichibanya or coco’s for short, it’s a Japanese curry house and it’s awesome! Stewed Chicken Curry Level 10 with 4gm rice and naan bread! I also suggest tea ceremonies, cherry blossom festivals, they are sooner in Okinawa than they are up on the mainland. Cherry Blossom festivals in Okinawa usually happen the end of January and as late as April mainland. I also like going up to the extreme north of the mainland, the scenery is so pretty. Japan is such a wonderful place. I want to move back so bad! Everything is pretty and colorful and people are happy and not rude. Great place, go there, you wont be sorry.

hmm… well my mother is japanese and my father is caucasian (french-english). if you want to count me as a white person, then yes i have been there, lived there in fact when i was a child.

but then again because its my culture, i cant really describe it to you from an outsider’s perspective. i am not fascinated with japan like a foreigner would be, but i could imagine how someone who has never been there would think it was like travelling to a different planet. especially somewhere like tokyo, that city is just a complete sensory overload.

just be aware that japanese people can be xenophobic. hollywood likes to portray japanese people as americophiles or something, but especially the older generations dont like foreigners at all… some will just be indifferent to you and others will actively dislike even hate you.

I loved Japan their traditional ways intrigue me.
