  • Jim Carrey. Because he’s earned it. Funniest actor to ever get on the big screen. I wish they’d make another Ace Ventura.
  • I know it’s not a popular answer but I’d still have Ricky Gervaise doing it, precisely because he makes people uncomfortable, including the people at the award ceremony. If you look at anything he’s written in his career, it’s precisely observed social comedy, The Office, Extra’s, reflecting all the painful flaws people have. I also loved the fact he was unapologetic about it all, that’s his shtick if you don’t like it, you shouldn’t have invited him. Lastly, given the ego’s in that industry, they deserve to be made to feel uncomfortable, go get ’em Ricky.

  • It really does not matter.

The Golden Globes awards are granted by about ninety foreign news correspondents, many of whom have little knowledge of movies or other types of entertainment or the arts.

The Golden Globes are actually a vehicle for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to collect monies for entertainment charities and scholarships, a commendable goal.

People watch the awards because they like to see the stars on TV and like to hear what or who has won awards. Awards granted may have some effect on Oscar nominations.

The TV host could be Ricky Gervais or Ricky Nelson. Most viewers would not care.

  • An Apple Computer, could list off all the winners and losers in perhaps 15 minutes for those in Washington who read really Slowly. SIRI could read the winners quickly, then for the next two hours people can watch all the commercials and listen to all the “fashion” experts tell you why that was the wrong gown.

This could be used for all of the award shows.

Second choice would be Monica Lewinsky, since she has proven experience. Elizabet Taylor would do since even in her current condition she would still receive accolades for a needless job well done. Who would ever mock Elizabeth Taylor with all of those Fashion Guru about?

  • I would love to see Steve Martin host the awards. As a matter of fact, I’d like to see Steve Martin host all the award shows. He’s one of our funniest, sincerest, most successful comedians of our time, but he’s not exactly a spring chicken anymore. I’d like to see him get as much exposure as possible in whatever time we have left.

  • A walrus wearing a Def Leppard t-shirt obivously a few sizes too small for him/her while holding a giant “# 1” foam finger hand with the index finger chewed off, as well as a candy-cane stripes painted on the obese mammal’s teeth. The walrus will be expected to have quick and witty one-liners that are generally inoffensive but still hilarious and avaliable to fit the situation at any given moment. Additionally, the selected walrus should also have some knowledge and experience working in the film industry, as well as his/her own humorous anecdotes that contain outrageous stories about walrus-related occurences like encounters with eskimos and binge eating smaller creatures.

  • i think i would enjoy seeing robert deniro or jack nicholson as a host. someone who is a classic actor with a lot of natural talent and speaking ability. i think a lot of funny lines could be written for them and i think they would hold everyone’s attention. however, in a weird way, they may be too famous to do it, if that makes sense, because people may be focusing more on them, rather than what they are saying. so, actually, a really good choice, and someone who would be totally at ease, would be adam sandler, or one of the wayans brothers, or even get all of the wayans brothers to do it together. dave chapelle would be a riot, but i doubt he’d be up for it!

  • I think Ellen Degeneres would be hilarious and she wouldn’t make inappropriate comments like Gervais made last year. I stopped liking Gervais after he said “And thank you God for making me an atheist.” That was totally uncalled for. I would hate it if Gervais was to host the globes this year. Get someone new. Don’t use that a**hole again this year.

  • Alec Baldwin, because unlike Gervais, he’s earned the right to poke fun at his peers.

I know that I would rather be insulted by a fellow American than a cheeky Brit. America needs to stop it with all the UK worship. We’re all so quick to give them our Oscars, the roles to all of our iconic American super heroes and best villains, then we pay them to make fun of us during the awards show where they walk away with everything!

  • Let me think who would I like to see host? NO ONE…..sick of these award shows, they have an award show on every other week, and award for this and award for that, an award for an award…..the stupid azz awards are totally useless, for the actors it’s a ego trip, for me it’s a pain, who really cares? evidently not me….can anyone tell me who won awards for the previous years?

  • 3 that we NEED

    1. Nathan Fillion – quirky quick quips, he’s a perfect fit.
    2. Jerry Seinfeld – seeing him present an award at the Oscars a couple years ago reminded us how much we miss seeing him on TV
    3. The Muppets – they have proved they are still well worth watching, the mix of Muppet and celebrity would make a great awards show

I would like to see the singer Steve Perry at the Golden Globe Awards. He used to be the lead singer of Journey for 17 years he also had a few solo albums as well. Why, you ask? I think he would be an amazing host because he’s: very down to earth, kind, sweet, classy. Also I think he would be great if he was the host, because he would put so much emotion into it even though he probably would be talking instead of singing. He puts so much emotion into whatever it is that he is singing. So I think it would be amazing if he could be the host.

I think that Lady gaga or Redfoo//LMFAO should host the Golden Globe Awards because they both are awesome. They both were at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve party, they both sang, and Lady Gaga pressed the button to bring in the new year. Either one should be able to host the GGA because I think with one or even both of these celebrities/group that a lot of people would definitely watch it. I know that they are very popular. [[-= Sorry for the people who dislike either of them but I like them both personally myself.

All of these awards show are meaningless drivel – just a chance for vacuous folks to kiss up to each other. Truly great works, in any art, rise to the top and survive – and flourish. People like Ricky Gervais are a waste of oxygen, and only further remove ANY particle of artistic intention from film – most of which is cheap drivel, anyway. I will not watch any of these shows, or bother to see who their little inbred panel of *experts* have chosen for any distinction whatsoever. Yes – I attend films often – at regular movie theaters, and art *art houses*. I do not need a witless baboon like Gervais – or anyone else chosen to do this – to tell me what is quality, and what is not.

I hate entertainment awards shows… never ever watch them EXCEPT now. And it is because of Ricky Gervais.

The reason I hate awards shows is that they are full of self-importance. They act like the movies and actors (or albums and singers)they award that year are the most cultural revolitions of all time… remember Tootsie and Rocky? Does anyone with a straight face laud those films today?

I am not one of those “hollywood sucks and they are demons”… I love movies and I love actors and actresses. I just hate the idea that a lot of people in that industry have that they are huge contributors to the human race. Gervais mocks this ideal brilliantly. I saw the highlights of last year when he hosted and this year I will watch the entire show. If these people cant make fun of themselves then boo hoo. They are making millions for 6 weeks on a project… I mean they can take it on the chin for a night to entertain some regular people. I mean they dont have to broadcast these awards if they want it to be sacred.

Abraham Lincoln. I believe he was an awesome president. Even though I was not alive when he was in office, the legacy he left behind was truly outstanding. If he were alive today, I would want him to host the Golden Globe Awards. Maybe he could show today’s celebrities what it means to be famous. He stood up for what was morally correct even though half the country was against him. Too many of today’s celebrities get lost in the spotlight and get caught up in drugs, alcohol, sex, and just greed. I believe Abe would be a great choice to host the GGA.

Ricky Gervais shouldn’t host again they should allow someone else to host it. Julia Roberts or Drew Barrymore should host it, because they are such beautiful actress that play in such courageous films. The former rapper Kid should host it, because he is so funny and plus the 90’s rocked.
Johnny Depp, Terrance Howard, or Big Boi should host it they are also the best actors in the best films.

I’m happy to see lots of different people give it a whirl. Americans tend to take themselves very seriously so Gervais is just what the doctor ordered, but he’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

I’d love to see Conan O’Brien host again – for me he is hands down the funniest host of awards shows I’ve seen. He probably wouldn’t put his hand up though, incase Jay Leno said he wanted to do it again at the last minute 🙂

Tim Burton with Helena Bonham Carter! – quirky/idiosyncratic husband and wife!
They have made a massive contribution to the film industry! e.g The Kings Speech/Nightmare before christmas etc…

Steven Speilburg would be interesting, or Peter Jackson with The Hobbit being released this year

But to make things less formal, Rowan Atkinson would be amusing (doubt he’d accept though)
Or just a plain old comedian with a slightly less offensive sense of humour, although i love Ricky Gervais’s comedy!

Ricky Gervais should be asked to come back and host. Just because, as vulgar as some of his lines were. They were really only black humoured comments on certain actors. Most people seemed to actually receive them rather well, and realise that it was nothing more than light hearted, Gervais-esque humour. The only ones that were really in a huff were those being called out. Take De Niro as an example for those that just took it as nothing more than a joke. The others should learn to take these things in their stride.

    So yeah… Rick Gervais.

    Ricky Gervais again.

Ross jeffries seems to be good at roasting, so him if it had to change.

Also Frankie Boyle for awesome one liners.

    Russell Brand for something different

But my NUMBER 1 CHOICE would be SACHA BARON COHEN.

All of the little segements he hosted for the golden globes were HILARIOUS!!!

I think someone who’s had experience in the movies, as in, they’re now old. I’m thinking along the lines of Betty White or famous director James Cameron who produced the two most grossing films in the world. It would be really good to see someone old up there, hosting the Golden Globes. Someone who knows what they’re doing because they’ve been there many times and they’ve seen the changes. Who knows? This could be their last Golden Globe Awards, so why not give the elders a go?

Other than Ricky Gervais? I think Nick Offerman could carry that load or perhaps a duo consisting of Offerman and his wife Megan Mullally. In the same vein, Amy Poehler and her husband Will Arnett would also provide a few laughs separately or together. Chelsea Handler, Lisa Lamapanelli, Wanda Sykes and Sarah Silverman are also cut from Gervais-like cloth. Insensitive, unpredictably funny and slightly at odds with Victorian era convention.

I would like to see more “No-Names” attend award ceremonies. The “A-List” and “B-List”, and even “C-list” celebrities aren’t the only ones who can act in the whole entire world, ok. There is plenty of talent beyond Hollywood and they seem to rarely get a break. Cheers to all the break-through artists that managed to get some recognition, if even for a moment. Cheers to the directors who believe in giving the right role to the most qualified person instead of just leaning on big names.

Zach Galifianakis for next year because he’s an excellent comedian. Nobody is more dorky or clowny than Zach and he’s a TRUE outcast to most of the actors. He did a great job in the movie Due date, The Hangover and The Hangover II. One day I hope he’ll become a host for some type of rewards show.. it would be fantastic.

CErtainly not Ricky Gervais again because his performance the first time he hosted the Golden GLobes was just not good. He was so arrogant and over the top obnoxious. It’s a sad day when a British comic is standing on U.S. Soil, hired to host an American award program and paid way way way too much to do so and is actually Taking Blatant snickering shots at alll and any American albeit celebrity or otherwise. He was all but booed. I htink if the audience had tomatoes, he would have been shmushed in the face. Betcha he is Baaaach because he will probably catch the interst of those who might say :”Ohhh that idiot is hosting, ley’s see what he does this time around”. He really is nasty. Why give this clown so much money to go on national TV. to take shots and mock Americans. He needs to go back to Britain and see if they will pay him to insult Brits I. Somehow, I don’t think that will happen anytime soon..

Are they rating lower answers down easier when on sponsored questions?

If so, I will start trolling on these in earnest. And will encourage my “acquaintances” to do so also.

Anyways: NO. I watched it, laughed through some of it, but I also know that Gervais’ presence probably means a decreased presence in actual attendees, and that he isn’t funny enough to warrant that.

Let us all be honest: as a stand up, in front of actual people comedian, Gervais is weak-water at most. And I LIKE him…didn’t really care for those gay podcasts that some namelass (HBO) company thought it would be a good idea to animate, but I enjoyed him.

Now….he just doesn’t have the chops.

His standup is garbage, sometimes funny, but I’ve seen better from lesser known comedians: HE IS HOUSEHOLD. Therefore, I hold him to be above a certain level of suckage.
He isn’t, but we are I guess. That must be why they are inviting him back.

Glad he lost weight though, and love the fact that he is representing us atheist as hard as possible.

Hmmmmmm Lindsay Lohan, so she could see what she could have achieved if she actually worked. Or Emma Stone, because she’s awesome. OOH ELLEN! Because she’s awesome and dang good at presenting prestigious awards (ooh. Try saying THAT out loud…..) plus I’m pretty sure she’s done it before and if so many people watch her show every week(?) in the US, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind seeing her present a Golden Globe again(:

I would love to see Ricky Gervais host the Golden Globes every single year ever from now on.
That performance last year was so absolutely funny, that without him, the Globes would be completely unwatchable. To Ricky Gervais, may you host for another several years!

Michael Jackson, but that’s not going to happen. 🙁 He was a legend and known throughout the world, I didn’t know anything about Ricky Gervais until his terrible hosting on… I think the MTV Awards one year? Yeah… Keep him and Russell Brand (as much as I actually like him) away from the mic on (American/U.S.) Award shows.

    {{I don’t care much for things like the Oscar/Emmy/Golden Globe Awards, but I felt like voicing my non-factor opinion.}}

Harvey personally feel that the hope of the largest and most take him!

This year is World Cup year with little hope Messi did not take the World Cup

Although the final lore Iniesta injured for a long time, but the Netherlands did not play the World Cup finals lore will not have a heavy weight

Harvey, whether in Spain or Barcelona are the team’s brain and is now the only remaining master of his award-winning midfield will be welcomed

Schneider also impress even the performance of all to see, after all, Harvey
