why do americans not seem to take global warming seriously?

I don’t think that they want us to really know what goes on in our World.

Global warming is a very serious issue and if we don’t empower ourselves and educate ourselves we will continue to be “zombies”.

One thing that isn’t posted much on this format is the REAL causes of global warming. The so-called warming that earth is having now occurs every several thousand years. Remember when you learned about the Ice Age and then the earth warmed and the ice disappeared? What is happening now, however is a shifting of the earth’s magnetic field. This happened before man inhabited the earth and is happening now. The shifting of the magnetic field causes a significant change in the weather patterns. It also disrupts GPS systems and the navigation of birds. Some areas of the globe will experience a significant change in temperature and precipitation. Meaning warmer or colder and more or less precipitation. According to scientists the pattern we are now having happens every 6+ thousand years. The north and south poles may reverse according to some scientists. If that happens life will be significantly changed. Don’t worry, the complete cycle takes a long, long time and all generations now will not experience it. I can’t answer for those who don’t care. It is probably because they know what is happening and man can’t do anything about it. Now as far as man-made warming, is caused by a populous earth and air pollution. The minute particles that we create our trapped in the atmosphere and absorb heat from the sun and transmit it back into the atmosphere. My background consists of meteorology, observation and map plotting.

Our planet is surrounded by a blanket of gases which keeps the earth warm and makes it able to sustain life. This is getting thicker as increasing amounts of greenhouse gases are released by burning fossil fuels for energy and transport, trapping in heat, exacerbated by developing countries like India, China and Russia. As a result, our climate is starting to change.

The scientific consensus is that there will be a gradual increase in global temperatures by between 1.4 and 5.8 degrees by the end of the century. This will have serious implications for ecosystems, growing seasons, animals and their habitats. There is already more intense and frequent extreme weather events.

Because the earth hasn’t warmed in ten years and our liberal government is using this hype to destroy our means of life and the pursuit of happiness.

Americans are destroying the planet with their energy needs so we are going to make it so expensive that only the elite or the chosen ones can afford it and therefore people like you and me will die out.

Allot of Americans are not stupid!!

Probably because to many of them the science of climate change is like politics. An issue you debate and can have different views upon, preferably reflecting your political stance. Opposing the consensus probably makes the skeptics feel that they are “smarter” than most of the world including the majority of climate scientists when they manage to see the truth through this huge “world wide conspiracy”.

I’m not sure but I think it’s becaue the major factors of global warming such as cars, factories are part of average day american society. It is just too much to lose. People are trying to do things about it such as less polution with alternative energy sources but these technology is still too new and some are too expensive.. I think the government don’t take it too seriously maybe cause they have bigger issues but I think later, they will when Global warming really becomes a huge threat.

It’s not a problem for global warming because it’s a benefit to our crops and livestock and don’t most people like hotter weather?

Also if the government stops Global warming. They stop the industry plants by regulating the amount of smoke or the people in how much they can drive etc. Only way to try to stop global warming if it exists. If this happen the government would help shut down our economy by limiting CO2. Even with our policies the government is putting in place. It’s all talk. If anything is done about it like better light bulbs. It’s really kind of worthless because it’s not going to make very much of an impact when the major source is mainly cars and industry buildings and energy that we use. Even you produce CO2. By worrying about global warming. Then you are limiting the air you breathe and the economy. Do you want another great depression because I don’t.

Because we like our freedom, we feel that as more people come to conclusions in their own mind they are fully capable of taking the actions that they deem appropriate as individuals.

Government regulation is not necessary to accomplish our own personal goals, the will of free people may change over time as different priorities earn our focus that is not bad it just gives the response to changing situations a flexibility that government regulation doesn’t have because of political strife.

Because we americans are smart enough to know that global warming is just a huge scam! And the liberals over here do make a HUGE deal about it!

1. The largest money in lobbying is with the oil companies – the record profits they are making will be significantly impacted if we use less gasoline and natural gas for heating….as a result, they are funding a campaign to place doubt in the minds of americans.

2. The coal industry also makes billions of dollars mining and burning coal for electricity – what would they do if there source of income were taken away. They too lose if we believe in global warming and start to lower our demand for electricity. It’s also like the tobacco industry – they really don’t want you to know how toxic their entire process is to the earth – from mining to generation to the point of usage.

The government is so heavily influenced by lobbyists (especially Bush who got his money from oil) and the money of oil and coal companies……to heavily influenced.

The evidence is there that industry is polluting our earth, and our daily activities of throwing away and generally living as though everything is disposable is much easier than realizing that we must make a change NOW.

It’s just easier to keep going along as if there isn’t anything happening so we don’t have to take action to stop driving huge vehicles, and recycling and taking our own grocery bags and stop using plastic everything………sad, isn’t it.

Because the population don’t believe in it and therefore it isn’t a voting issue — and America listens to nobody else.

China, on the other hand, is actually doing quite a lot to tackle the problem – just not as fast as the country is growing.

Selfish, but the present US administration wouldn’t benefit from changing the environment, so why make the effort.
