Why do people often rank rookie QBs higher than veterans?

A lot of QB ranking list I see seem to put rookie and 2nd year guys ahead of veterans who have played at a high level for several years, and I don’t understand how people can say they are already better. I think I understand what people are trying to say but, I think they are wording it incorrectly. If you want to say you think the newer QBs will have a better year the proceeding season than a certain established veteran, I think I understand that. However to say he has already surpassed him, and is among the top best QBs in the league today is a little ridiculous. I’m sorry, I don’t care what you did your rookie or sophomore year, I am not going to put you ahead of guys like Rivers and Romo. I even have a hard time putting someone like RGIII ahead of Jay Cutler, even though I am not a fan of Cutler’s, because it isn’t fair to compare one good year vs several seasons of good and bad mixed together. Unless he is a garbage QB, who is forced to play, i.e Mark Sanchez or a backup riding the bench, a veteran has seen and done more, and played consistently at a high enough level to keep their job. These rookies and new guys have to play well over a duration for me to rank them among the best. These new QB are smart, no doubt but defense will adapt over time too.

  • Football experts like Coach Q. TIp give their highest ratings to the younger players like RG3 because they eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either, jogging or going for a long run everyday…

They’re also faster because they wear Addidas AdiZero 2.0 5 Star football cleats, work hard and perform very well in practice everyday….

  • I think it’s more of a thrill factor per season like RGIII jumped the gun and became an outstanding QB right out of college which is really amazing because of the skill level change against veteran CB’s, Safety’s, LB’s, and DL’s. I see what you’re saying with veteran QB’s and experience but think of it like the same situation. A Defense being veterans against some kid who just got in the league and he makes them look silly. Which means he has to have quite some talent to be able to do that right off of the bat. Same goes for A. Luck I mean sure the colts didn’t have the best season ever but it was still decent (I’ll give that O-line a lot of the credit too).

  • People do it because they get too ahead of themselves and are too quick to write someone off as elite right away. Just like you said, there is some qb’s that Luck, Wilson and RG3 have no business being ahead of. Unless a rookie brings his team to the Super Bowl, i think they should be no higher than 14.

AS for RG3, I can also see him taking an early exit in the league. He gets hit too much and unless he changes his play style, he will get knocked out of the league by year 6. He needs to prove that he can throw with the best of them, and no he hasn’t done that yet. Neither has Luck or Wilson.

Teams defenses learn how to play against rookies very quickly.

  • My best guess is that Robert Griffin III has an extremely good wok ethic, especially with his eating and exercise habits. What Griffin III does is eat healthy, and exercise by doing a lot of running every day. Doing these things help Griffin III get into better shape, which greatly improves his chances of becoming an elite NFL quarterback in the future.

  • I think RGIII is just a gimmick like vick was and won’t be in the leauge as long as a culter
