Why is it so taboo for a guy to hit a girl?

Hope my question didnt come off wrong, but I meant as in self defense. I’m a girl and all I heard when I was growing up was my parents lecturing my brother on not hitting me and other girls. Shame because I would hit the kid so hard. I was never one to rely on others so when my brother did hit me back one time it just carried on. I didn’t make a big deal about it and run to my parents because a boy hit me. I guess my question is, why do so many girls think its perfectly fine to hit a guy, but can never be hit back. Not to say all girls think like this, I know that for a fact. But it seems like majority of us do. I think it’s a social issue we need to address. Nobody cares if the fight is with a skinny guy and a huge guy, but if its a girl and a guy, all hell breaks loose.

  • Because society is messed up. It’s really sexist actually. Girls are generally seen as weaker more vulnerable human beings. So saying that, it means that we think all males are stronger than females witch is not true at all.

  • When a fight is so decisive that the result is guaranteed, it is a gentlemanly or chivalrous action for the stronger one to decline fighting. That has historically been the case between two men, however if the weaker absolutely pressed the issue he was accepting the loss. Sometimes in a case of honor, it was thought necessary to take the stand and lose the fight and possibly your life. When the combat involves a man and a woman, it would be up to the man to decline fighting as the stronger of the pair. No matter the issue, unless a woman attacked a man with deadly force, a gentleman should decline.

Obviously this is a little outdated, women are now more athletic and more able to fight than other periods is western civilization. Women are now in the military and sometimes expected to fight. But in my opinion it is still never right for a man to fight or hit a woman. Maybe in some cultures it is acceptable, but will never be acceptable to me.

  • I kind of see what you’re saying, but males have testosterone (obviously), so it’s much easier for them to build muscle. I guess it depends on the people, but men are just generally stronger than women, making it unfair competition since they have an advantage.
