  • You will never see a good deal from *any* funeral home. If you opt for cremation they will sell you a brown cardboard box for around $150 or you can get a blue cardboard box for $195, their cost on these two cardboard caskets is $2.50 or $3. for the blue one.

Some funeral homes have a fixed minimum cost, my brother is a mortician the funeral home he works at has a $3,0 minimum and the cost goes up from their. If you use the chapel at the funeral home it will cost you $1,5 for the 1 hour service.

I know you are being humorous in this question but there is not any other business that I can think of that will take full advantage of your sorrow and try to get you to spend as much as they can, there is a charge for everything.

My mother passed away one year ago and we buried her ashes in my fathers grave, they charged us $250 for a second rite of internment and $350 for opening the grave and $6 for setting the headstone.

Go for direct cremation and then get the proper permits to dispose of the remains according to your loved ones wishes.

IF!! they ever offer a 2 for 1 deal then I am going to die twice just to take advantage of them

  • Actually, I live in a funeral home, and our funeral home offers free services to fulltime firemen, volunteer firemen, and policemen. I have known of many cases where the funeral director will cut the expenses down to a bare minimum for those who are not covered by insurance. We also provide free services to those who are veterans. Our funeral home may be an exception to most, but it is run by a Christian funeral director, and he really tries to give as many discounts as he can, for he has a lot of empathy for the people who have lost their loved ones. God bless!!!

  • LOL I had to laugh…that was funny! I did however see an ad for a discounted creamnation! Seriously…it was in a town I once lived in! Big huge billboard with that sign!

    Absolutely unbelievable.

  • Maybe because everyone is just dying to get there. They (the funeral Homes) know that everyone will need their services sooner or later so they can charge what they want for their service.

  • A two for offer sounds a bit grim and might lead to a little “push” to get the break. Who wants to see their loved one get a coffin with a “made in China” sticker on it? Plastic headstones? These things would just be in bad taste.

  • Hey, what you got against mother-in-laws . LOL but it is funny. and you are Still not right.

  • That’s funny. I never heard anything like that but they do, do that, it’s just not out there like that.

  • Good question. …and why don’t they offer gift certificates? …for mother-in-laws. Oh yeah, and sister-in-laws.

  • supply and demand. there is always a demand regardless what the economy is like.

  • Why would they, they have all the business they can handle.
