  • Mars has an atmosphere:

SIZE: Thinner than Earths and Venus

    PRESSURE: 6 pascals

CONTENTS: 93% Carbon Dioxide, 3% Nitrogen, 2% Argon, less than 1% Oxygen, Carbon Monoxide, Ozone & Water vapor.

NOTES: Mars atmosphere is getting thinner.

    The atmosphere contains dust.

  • Scientists have discovered that at some point on Mars, there was an atmosphere at one point it was magnetically charge, like our planet. But something killed the atmosphere. No one knows yet, but there are plenty of theories that can make sense if you can grasp it.

  • Mars does have an atmosphere, though it is only about 1% of what Earth has.

It’s thought that Mars lost its atmosphere due to a combination of its smaller size, distance from the sun and rapidly cooling core and fading magnetic field to allow the suns radiation to essentially strip it away over time.

  • Why do you think there is no atmosphere on Mars? The parachutes used by some landers would not work, right? Or move in the wind.

  • Mars has very thin atmosphere due to less gravity as compared to Earth.

  • there is an atmosphere but its very thin and this is due to the weak gravitational pull of the mars which ultimately depends upon the mass of the planet so lesser the mass weaker is the gravitation, hence it can not hold the gases for too long.

  • there is a thin atmosphere on Mars that comes and goes..

“The atmosphere of Mars is, like that of Venus, composed mostly of carbon dioxide though far thinner. There has been renewed interest in its composition since the detection of traces of methane[2][3] that may indicate life but may also be produced by a geochemical process, volcanic or hydrothermal activity.[4]” – From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Climate of Mars)

  • There IS an atmosphere on Mars, it’s just not as thick as Earth’s due to Mars’ lower gravity.

  • Low gravity so the escape velocity is much lower.

No magnetic field – so no magnetopause – so the solar wind strikes through to the gases.

Hydrogen is split from water, hydrogen molecules will be split by incoming radiation.

The hydrogen ions will (failry) easily reach escape velocity and gone.

heavier gas elements will be exposed to the same conditions and over time almost all of the gas has ionised and escaped the panet.

  • i missed the first trip, so i’m going the next time mate. lmao

if the gang can breathe then it has to have some atmosphere.
