No matter how much people deny it, the fact of the matter is that people just dont like unbeaten fighters, especially cocky ones, its very hard for an unbeaten fighter to be rated next to the best of all time untill he is beaten and returns well from that defeat, americans will never put joe calzaghe as an all time great because they’ll say ( well he didn’t fight this guy at this time in this weight, blah blah) its the same with past champions marciano will always be rated as great but not quite as great as beaten fighters who proved them self after a defeat. take this scenario for example : what if mayweather lost agianst delahoya in that close fight, and came back to win him in a re-match? mayweather would not be getting any where near the stick he gets now, it because people dont like people to retire undefeated, they’ll always be that one fight that he didn’t have. or that one fight that was unfair. what are your comments on this?

@josh im not denying that pacman is not a great fighter and a fight between the pair would be fantastic, but what has that got to do with what im saying in general. to argue against your point there is a massive difference between cockiness and confidence and i think mayweather falls into the latter, take Ali for instance now that was one of the cockiest men on the planet for more so than mayweather but Ali lost great fights and came back to prove he was the best of the bunch, that is why he will be remembered always as one of the GOAT. Mayweather at least for now will struggle to be rated as one of the GOAT because no people don’t like unbeaten fighters(hence what i was talking about in the first place)

Exactly. They said, Mosely will beat him…Floyd beats him, then everyone screams ”FIX” ”FIX”, he beats Hatton, everyone says ”MISMATCH”, etc.
Floyd has achieved so much, from poverty to what he is now and he doesn’t get any respect.
People just have to see, he is unbeaten and their is nothing they can do about it.

When you compare great fighters historically, you can only go by who they fought. Mayweather is not hated, he just has not had wins over great fighters. De La Hoya was propbaly his biggest win, he looked like he was running. Floyd’s not hated, he took a cheap shot at a very popular fighter in Manny Pacquaio, a fighter who has loyal fans. If Floyd handled it differently, came with some proof, didn’t make racist remarks about people, he might not be getting the hate. I don’t remember this level of hate toward him a few years ago.
Mayweather is cocky as they come. even if him and Pacquiao never go toe to toe, i think everyone knows including Mayweather himself, that Pacquiao is a better fighter and could wreck Mayweather.
