Will Ryback win the WWE Championship and defeat John Cena before the year is over?

  • I think it will largely depend on how his current feud with John Cena unfolds. I’m fairly certain that Cena is going to win this feud and retain the WWE title, but I’m equally sure that at the same time it’s going to act as a bit of a testing ground for Ryback, to really see what he’s capable of in the main event.

His character has darkened significantly, he’s spoken more in the last two weeks then he has in the rest of his career combined and he’s working virtually one-on-one with Cena, the undisputed top star in the company who has a long history of serving as a litmus test of sorts for new guys right on the cusp of permanently breaking into the main event scene.

If Ryback performs well, puts on a string of good matches (because I’m not entirely convinced this is going to be a one-off rivalry) and stays strong on the microphone, then I’d say it’s entirely likely that he’ll win the WWE title before the year is out. However, if the matches are sub-standard, if Cena dominates him on the mic and if the audience rejects this new character turn, then it’s equally as likely that Ryback could fade back a bit.

It all depends on how he does right now.

  • I’m not sure, I’m really split on what’s going to happen at Extreme Rules. It’s tough to call It right now since we still have three weeks worth of build. I’m leaning towards Cena retains.
He just got It back and It would be counterproductive to him to right after everything that just happened with The Rock. So as far as Extreme Rules goes I’ll say Cena.
One good thing for Ryback Is that right now there Isn’t many credible challengers for Cena.
Punks on hiatus, Orton Is In limbo, Sheamus Isn’t doing much, Big Show Is irrelevant right now.
Really the only other contender for Cena Is Brock Lesnar. He wants to commit to at least a semi full time schedule.

Though I think they’ll save Brock vs Cena II for Summerslam. Now will It be for the WWE Title?
Brock has said he wants the WWE Championship. So If Brock vs Cena does happen at Summerslam I’m sure It will be the title. One alternative I’ve heard Is Brock vs Punk.
With Punk possibly turning face It could happen. I doubt It though. Let’s say Brock vs Cena does happen at Summerslam for the title and Brock wins. That will set up another rematch.
Then Ryback’s chance will further drop because both he and Brock are heels.
Though Cena could regain the title from Brock and then Ryback could beat him.

Really I doubt Ryback will win the title this year but I’ve been wrong before.

  • he might be champ by the end of the year but he wont win it from Cena

  • I think/hope he’ll win at Extreme Rules. Please, WWE not another long Cena reign….

  • Depends on what the writers come up with, plus what Vince wants!

  • i hope so
