Wireless N router recommendation?

Hi

I am looking for a wireless N router with these features( I am looking for one that fills as many of these as possible).

1. can run tomato firmware (http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato)

2. has a VOIP port that a normal phone can connect too it

3. allow my old laptop that does not have wireless N still connect to it(backwards compatible…but hopefully it can run both at the same time)

Thanks

  • When you replace the firmware with tomato, you will lose any features that the tomato firmware doesn’t provide (including voip). Youd be better off getting a separate VoIP box that plugs into a router that supports tomato/N. The other thing to keep in mind is that if youre using G on a router that supports N but doesn’t support doing both at once (not familiar with tomato to know if it does that since I use DD-WRT exclusively) you’re just going to get G speeds on your N devices. Since you require tomato, you’re limited to these routers according to the FAQ:

    Linksys WRT54GL v1.x, WRT54G v1-v4, WRT54GS v1-v4, WRTSL54GS (no USB support)

    Buffalo WHR-G54S, WHR-HP-G54, WZR-G54, WBR2-G54, WBR-G54, WZR-HP-G54, WZR-RS-G54, WZR-RS-G54HP, WVR-G54-NF, WHR2-A54-G54, WHR3-AG54

Asus WL520GU (no USB support), WL5G Premium (no USB support), WL5GE

    Sparklan WX6615GT, Fuji RT390W, Microsoft MN-7
