2006 Nissan Altima cruise control problem.?

I own a 26 Nissan Altima 2.5 . Recently I was going on a highway and I tried to use the cruise control on my car, but when I try to set the speed, the “set” light did not come on until after 10 seconds, and it was blinking. I tried to let go of the gas but the car started to slow down, which means the cruise control is not working.
I turned off the cruise control and tried to speed up, however, the car can only goes up to about 20 rpm and it was accelerating slowly even if i floor the gas pedal.
The next day I start up the car again and everything seems fine. which I tried the cruise control again tonight, and the same thing happened.

Please let me know what could be wrong with my car.

  • flashing cruise control lamp means there is a trouble code present in that system. I would suspect there may also be a “Service Engine Soon” Light on too. Throttle control will go into fail safe if there is a electronic issue (even a low battery alternator problem) Have all the car trouble codes read and write down the results. If you can also get freeze frame data (what the motor was doing when the light turned on) even better. Good Luck
