  • This Lullaby. Here’s Amazon’s summary/review:

“”I had no illusions about love… It came, it went, it left casualties or it didn’t. People weren’t meant to be together forever, regardless of what the songs say.” Remy doesn’t believe in love. And why should she? Her romance novelist mother is working on her fifth marriage, and her father, a ‘s hippie singer, left her with only a one-hit wonder song to remember him by. Every time Remy hears “This Lullaby,” it feels like “a bruise that never quite healed right.” “Wherever you may go / I will let you down / But this lullaby plays on…” Never without a boyfriend, Remy is a compulsive dater, but before a guy can go all “Ken” on her (as in “ultra boyfriend behavior”) she cuts him off, without ever getting close or getting hurt. That’s why she’s stunned when klutzy, quirky, alterna-band boy Dexter inserts himself into her life and refuses to leave. Remy’s been accepted to Stanford, and she plans on having her usual summer fling before tying up the loose ends of her pre-college life and heading for the coast. Except Dexter’s not following Remy’s tried-and-true rules of break-up protocol. And for the first time, Remy’s questioning whether or not she wants him to.

Author Sarah Dessen’s ability to write novels that are both crowd pleasers and literary masterpieces of YA fiction is showcased beautifully in This Lullaby. Subtle yet completely absorbing, Lullaby is peopled with breathtakingly believable, three-dimensional characters, the very best of which is the bitter, broken Remy herself. An original love story about learning to love yourself first. (Ages and older) –Jennifer Hubert””

I love this book because I can relate to the main character Remy. We share the same cynical view on life and love. I also love how Remy and Dexter have clashing personalities but manage to make things work at the end. 🙂

  • ♥The Truth About Forever♥

After Macy’s dad dies, she strives to be perfect. Perfect grades, perfect behavior, perfect boyfriend. Even her mother is perfect. When her boyfriend leaves for genius camp, and Macy is stuck with filling in for his job at the library, Macy starts to feel as if this summer is going to be the worst yet. But then she meets the Wish catering crew, where nothing is ever perfect. Delia, Kristy, Bert, Monica, and especially Wes, who subjects Macy to the fact that nothing’s ever perfect, no matter how hard she tries.

By day, Macy is perfect and pristine, working with the snobby girls at the library info desk. By night, though, Macy works with the clumsy, forgetful, always changing crew at Wish.

Macy keeps her Wish nights a secret from her mom, but when Macy’s mom finds out, she bans Macy from seeing the crew and forces her to work at a model home in their neighborhood. Macy’s mom hires Wish for a party as a last resort. Macy works with them and remebers how fun it really was. Macy’s mom finally understands that not everything is perfect and lets Macy off her short leash. Everything comes full circle when Macy finally gets the chance to tell Wes how she feels and her mother is able the grieve for her father’s death.

This book is AMAZING. I totally loved it when I first read it. There are some really powerful messages in this book and I think that anyone should read it. Sarah Dessen really knows how to pull at your heartstrings. I loved this book and I know anyone else who reads it will, too
