Is it a good idea to let my bird stay over at my boyfriend's for a week?

My quaker parrot, Nagoya, is 6 months old, and at the moment, she’s not fond of everyone except me and my boyfriend, as we both raised her since she was 5 weeks old. She stayed with him 2-3 weeks since we bought her before she moved to my place. I’ve been wanting Nagoya to spend time with my boyfriend (especially since I’m recovering from surgery and I can’t take her out), I wonder if it’s a good idea to let him take her for a week, maybe two if she really wants to stay over. He has two cockatiels but she’ll be kept in her own cage. She’s met them before when she was still 5 weeks.

I know that constant change in environment can sorta stress out my bird, so just wanted to see if it’s alright to let her stay over and be babysat for a bit. She knows my boyfriend and myself as her parents. She used to LOVE being in his sweater pockets as a baby whenever he went driving, before she could fly (she isn’t free-flight yet, so she won’t be as patient this time).

Thank you!

  • They way you describe the situation, the bird will be fine. They adapt quite well. This comes from over 40 years of experience with birds so go for it.

  • As long as all birds are vetted with certificates of health, and your bird is comfortable with your boyfriend this should not be a problem.
