AFL:What if Fev was…?

Still at Carlton, do you think they could have had/present finish top 4 with him?

  • It’s so dam hard to give a proper answer to a hypothetical question so lets just say this.

If Brendon Fevola hypothetically had of stayed off the drink & away from the gambling that saw him traded from Carlton. then who knows what heights he may have hit at the club. but because he was not ready to be a recognised athlete in modern day footy, as the Lions found out. he is now just a fond memory of days gone bye to those of us who support Carlton.

I just hate it when such talent as he had for AFL footy is wasted in such a manor. in years to come he will regret it too!

    Cheers.

  • well they still would have beat wce on saturday

  • No. The game has changed a lot in 3-4 years.

By the time Matty Lloyd and later Barry Hall retired, the full forward position, which was already out of date, becaome completely obsolete. Meaning if you don’t have skills and can’t run up the ground if called on, you wont get a game.

Playing in the VFL and kicking bags of goals is different. A big player who can take a contested mark, will still get a bag of goals. This will not happen in today’s AFL. A player who touches the ball 4 times and gets 2-3 goals, is still useless in the overall scope of the game.

So Carlton with Fev? Nah, they would have done even worse.

  • Fev is very overweight now. Played in an exhibition game 2 weeks ago at Brunswick in WA. Had trouble running. Was paid $ 20,0.

  • Not on your life!

They’ve started changing their culture and they’re heading in the right direction I believe.

I agree they need a serious go to big serious forward with a ‘presence’ up front – but Fev is not your man (or their man).

Buddy would be the perfect match! (Always happy to put fuel on THAT fire 🙂 )

  • would depend on how many times he spat the dummy, of which he was an expert

  • Fev no, but a key forward would very much help their case.
