Am I ready for another pet?

Cost: I know I will need to pay for vaccinations, De sexing, micro-chipping, as well as food, worming, annual health checks, vet bills, training, boarding, toys, and bedding. I also know that anything can happen, so I’ll need money for that too. I have a few ways on how I can make money, to be able to pay for the animal. I also have my parents who would help with emergency that will happen to my pet.

Care: I know I will need to do the basic information, and maybe more research. As well as if they are sick, getting medicines for them if they get sick.

Time: For certain animals, I will need to socialize them, exercise them,, grooming them, and play with them. I know some pets do require more time and care them others, and I am prepared for that, although I go to school for 7 hours, and I do dancing and netball, most of the time there are always people home, and when I get home from school, I will be able to play with them until 4:30, and then I will need to other stuff, but I can then go play or just hang out with the pet after I do those things.

Accommodation: I live in a 2 story house, with a HUGE garden (just plants, no grass), and a little section of grass out the front of my house. My backyard is HUGE, but depending on what pet it is, I will not be able to have it outside all the time, due to the fact that my family and I have a greedy & always hungry dog. I would also like to have a pet that is medium sized, so I don’t lose it in my room, and a pet that I could take out of its cage. I wouldn’t mind things like Guinea Pigs and birds though.

Social Life: My parents work 8am – 5:30pm, and I go to school 9pm – 3pm. My brother is in college, so he may be home during the day. My dad does some late shifts, so he will start at 9am, or 12pm. We travel to my grandparents house, but I’m sure I would be able to take my pet with me up to their place as they have no pets. I can also ask my parent’s friends/neighbors if they can feed and play with my pet when I go on holidays (camp, overseas trips etc.)

So basically have you ever heard of a ferret? Adorable, loyal, friendly, obedient, harmless if you vaccinate and trim their claws. perfect to carry around, etc.
Avoid: birds, hamsters, guinea pigs and small creatures, if your getting a cat they would certainly be made dinner. I lost a baby squirrel i rescued when our cat broke through its cage and killed it :/
