I’m 15 andthinking about babysitting my neighbor’s kids all summer. It will be from 8am until 5pm on week days. I am not sure of their ages, but I will guess between 6 and 10. There are 3 of them. (I know the kids, I just never asked their ages before)
Do you think it will be unreasonable to ask to babysit at their house? Our house is too small and my mom is expecting a baby, and she said only if its at their house.
I will talk to my neighbor tomorrow. But I’m nervous.
What about pricing? Is $5 an hour too much?

$5 hr is too little if anything. I’ve been babysitting since I was 13 at $10 an hour and no one cares about that because that’s what they expect

If your doing it fulltime for them they will probably set a weekly rate, not hourly. You can’t expect someone making say 8 an hour to decide to give you 5 an hour. That’s 225 a week if your M-F 8-5. So just ask them what they are willing to pay and go from there. You might be surprised but don’t get your hopes set because babysitting is a sought after job and many ppl will accept less money to watch all 3 just for the experience and extra income.

Most babysitter expect you to babysit at their house. Ask them what they would pay you and if you think it is too low say $5 an hour. I get payed that much for three kids that are between 1-7.
