  • He will likely poo once he’s finished shedding. I’ve found that my ball python is really inactive at least 2 weeks before a shed, and when snakes are inactive they usually don’t defecate as often. Wait about a week after your ball python has shed, and if he still hasn’t pooed, he’s likely constipated.

If your ball python is constipated, soak him in lukewarm water (enough water to cover his back – but make sure to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t drown!!) every other day, this should help quite a bit. If he hasn’t pooed in 2 months, you should take him to the vet.

  • He’s probably in shed, make sure you have the proper humidity levels, they sell humidity gauges at Walmart garden section for cheap. Usually the eyes get cloudy , then they clear up and then they shed. Expect a lot of poop after shedding. Usually when I feed my snakes a f/t rat I dunk the rat in warm water. This way the snake will sense the heat and take in water at the same time. For more info

  • He will shed soon, and will probably go to the bathroom at the same time.

When a snake goes into shed, the belly first becomes pink. Then the eyes get blue and hazy and the body colour gets very dull. Your snake will then return to looking normal right before he sheds. 🙂
