  • I’ll actually quote you the pertinent rule.

6.05 The batter is out when

    (d) he bunts foul on a third strike.

The rule exists to prevent players from purposely bunting foul for hours on end.

Edit – Tom, you need to learn the basic rules. I learned that a foul bunt with 2 strikes was an out when I was about 5 years old.

  • You mean the ball rolled foul not out of bounds this isn’t basketball or football. When you bunt a ball foul on a count with two strikes then you are out, simple as that. Read the rule book.

@Tom: Why are you even here? I’ve seen several of your answers and you always give a completely stupid answer to the question. I think you are the one that needs to read the rule book. Either get a clue or get lost.

  • The sequence you describe is: foul bunt, foul bunt, called strike. The fouls count as strikes, and the called strike is the third strike.

Now, if what you’re really saying is foul bunt, foul bunt, foul bunt, all of these are strikes, and result in the out. If you have two strikes and bunt foul, that’s a strike, per the rule that’s already been quoted.

The reason a foul bunt can be strike three is because the rule was written to make it so. This was done because if the batter has two strikes, it is easy for the batter to repeatedly bunt foul in order to prolong his time at bat.

  • The rule is a foul bunt for strike 3 is an out.

  • You can get strike 1 and 2 on foul balls, but you cannot strike out on a foul ball. The umpire who called you out clearly doesn’t understand the rules. You need to report what happened to you to the umpires association.
