Can someone be your cousin if the two people dont have the same grandparent as an ancestor ?

– i’ve been in a relationship with this girl for almost a year . someone in her family told her we we’re cousins . so , then ii did a family tree and we dont have any of the same grand parents no where down thee line . but when ii google kinship it says for two people to be cousins , you have to have a common ancestor ( grandfather or grandmother } . and , we dont have either one . so are we related .? { ii dnt believe so )

  • Youre… different -.- ..If she was a decendant of your grandparents then she’d be your aunt, or your sister, or your mom!.. A decendant of your aunt is your cousin. It could be your grandmothers sister, and your grandfathers aunt.. You should use your head mate.
