Well, anything’s possible. With the original premise of the movie being a surprise invasion by a major power, no, as no other country currently has the capability. Years down the road? Perhaps the Chinese, or some fantastic conglomeration of Islamic fundamentalists, but not likely. If ever, the results would likely see a much bloodier, messy process than has been depicted on screen.
But this all assumes we’re talking about an invasion of the USA. Shift that elsewhere, and, yes, it happens to small countries all too frequently. Glad I live here.
