Can you drain a bathtub full of blood or does it need to be pumped out?

i work at a apartment complex where a lady hemmoraged to death in the tub and i wanted to know if there was a proper way to dispose of the bloodied water or if it could just be drained
Open Question

  • No you can let it go down the drain of the tub because at the funeral homes that I have had dealings with when they imbomb someone they just allow it to go in the septic or public septic( HOWEVER BE SURE TO WEAR GLOVES !!!!!!)

  • omg thats so gross. i would be traumatized for life.

  • Yes u can just drain the tub. Be sure to wear gloves for your own protection.
I would use vinegar to clean after draining. Again, wear gloves when you clean the tub and the surrounding area.

  • Yes, it is fluid enough to flow down the drain, especially if it is diluted with tap water. If it has coagulated (hardened, with the moisture essentially evaporated), then it will have to be removed the hard way — cut up and bagged in sealed bags, then double bagged and properly disposed of (contact your county waste management agency for guidelines). Most (if not all) states make it illegal to dispose of bio-waste or other hazardous waste in the garbage.

Be sure to take proper precautions: long gloves to protect you from contact with the blood or other bodily excretions. If this is a crime scene, some jurisdictions (cities, counties) have contractors on call that they send in to do the cleanup because they are properly trained and certified.

  • lol, that sounds sweet! I may seem a bit cold hearted, but hey, the stuff happens. That you actually got to see something like that is pretty cool. I can imagine what the place smells like though, yuck! You never forget the smell a large amount of blood has!
