A friend and I got into a small discussion earlier about people’s facebook profiles. She insists that you can tell alot about a person’s personality just by looking at their facebook. I disagree by telling her, “It’s just facebook.” She used me as an example and stated that my major (Nursing), some of my interests (Reading, music, poetry, and photography), and that some pages that I like (American Red Cross, To Write Love On Her Arms) shows that I’m intellectual, sweet, and caring…..we’ve been friends for 6 years now, so she would know me well enough anyway. You need to ask your friend, where it was that she and you listed your faults, bad habits, second rate talents, your failures, pettiness, hidden secrets, ghosts in the closet, so to speak…cause we all have them and they are all part of us and our personalities, so why hasn’t she listed the “truth” or is she far above and beyond that ??
Then ask her if she ever heard and knows the definition of the word “liar”?, anyone can make themselves look like anything they want to look like on the net, hiding behind a screen, not like their gonna get much attention, action or friends by admitting their a total s*it. Of course ppl will only list their good points, show only what they want you to see or know, stretch the truth, exaggerate and lie.
Face Book is no different from any other site on the net, some decent folk, yes, but the liars, players and the ulterior motives of others far out number them.
Your friend is being foolish all she will ever know about anyone, is what they want her to know, that’s why con men can con, why ppl believe others they’ve never met on their word alone.
Got any idea of how many women have been raped by hooking up through net dating services?, yet they as adults somehow couldn’t tell by ones profile and video?
Your right, she didn’t need to look at face book to know you, but she certainly can’t say about others.
People that have some education can tell your personality just by looking at their room. Why not facebook? There are many strange ways to project us around us.
