  • No, many printers will not work if any color is out of ink. It’s that way with my cannon, My old printer was a brother and it also did the same thing.

  • With most printers, you are required to have ink in both the black and color ink cartridges in order to print in black as color ink is needed in this process. They work in conjunction with each other. So you will need to have the both usable color and black ink cartridges with ink, the same thing applies for color. It also is used as a lubricant that also helps to prevent print head damage.

In the printer driver, there is an option for “gray scale” printing. That

should use only the black cartridge , but you also will need a usable color cartridge installed for that option as some color ink is also used.

  • below some situations, HP printers (probable all abode windows printers) will print black on white utilising the colour cartridges. attempt this to apply that black cartridge: interior the printer communication field from CTRL/P or despite: a million. click the homes button. 2. click the colour tab. 3. below shade suggestions, verify Print in Grayscale. 4. click the Black print cartridge purely radio button. 5. click ok. desire that helps.

  • Clever designing by inkjet manufacturers forces you to buy more inkjet cartridges. Nothing you can do about it except buy a low cost b/w laserprinter.
