Cleaning after being in an infested place for two weeks?

moved into a new apartment and then discovered that it was infested with roaches wanted to know how to clean my clothing blankets books bed and ELECTRONICS laptop desktop tv dvd player since i have decided to GET OUT!!!!! I don’t wanna take them with me and I’d prefer not to get rid of all of my belongings…….i have yet to see them in my room yet so that might be hopeful for my bed and clothes?

  • Get some bug “bombs” and gas you apt really well. That will get rid of any vermin inside the nooks and crannies of your electronics and such.

Then make sure to wash ALL of the fabrics that you can. and wipe down any surfaces of the stuff you own to help get rid of the insecticide.

  • you should only need to worry about soft surfaces. wash them in hot water and dry them. that will kill the roaches. things you can’t wash, put into airtight plastic bags and keep them in there for at least a month. if there are roaches, babies or egg pouches, they will die without water. i think space bags will work well.

As for your bed, they won’t get inside unless there is a hole, so a thorough inspection with your eyes should be good enough.

another thing to worry about it cardboard boxes. they can lay egg pouches in them. get fresh cardboard boxes and minimize the time they are in the apartment.

boric acid is a powder that is not terribly toxic to humans, but it will kill roaches, so you can use that inside the boxes, then just vacuum your belongs well after they are done being moved.

to be safe, i would buy roach traps for your new place before you even move in just in case you do bring any with you, and this will get them before the start to multiply.
