College ball? Help please?

See, I am from Nebraska , I am one of the best on my club league , but we all know that club isn’t as good as AAU travel. I recently had a tryout scheduled with a fantastic team a friend plays on, he didn’t come pick me up, and isn’t answering his phone. Basketball is very big too me. I am very good. I honestly think he thinks I am going to take his position, or something. I play PG 5’91/2 140 ish (not fat). I have a very respectable jumper , that most teams will NOT let me shoot with out D. I pass like Chris Paul, and drive like D-Rose. I think I could play at the next level, which is AAU travel. I know I could do it. I would just love to here what you all would think. NBA comparison’s.? Ha , anyways I don’t even worry about NBA. I’ve wanted to go to Duke University since I was 6. I am 13 now. Please respond. Oh, also I have decent perimeter defense. Please respond.. On things I can work on.? Oh , also if you know who he is, I wanna be like my role model Quinn Cook. Oh, but the thing is I don’t wanna be the next Quinn Cook. I wanna be the first Tyler McMahon.

  • I agree with you that AAU basketball is the next logical step for you.

    Go to this site: http://aausports.org/clublocator.aspx

Select Boys Basketball as your sport and enter your zip code. Then, call around to the local clubs and see who would have a spot for you this season. A lot of AAU clubs usually start up in March (Some run year round). So, I would try to see if you can jump on board and at least get into a few tournaments and start practicing with a team.

I wouldn’t worry about comparing yourself to Derrick Rose, Chris Paul or Quinn Cook. Just be you. If your dream is to play at Duke, then work your tail off to make it happen. You have to be one of the best players in the country as a high school player to go to Duke. So, you are on the right track in trying to play against better competition.

    Best of luck to you.
